About Us

The idea for Slovo was born when Anastasia, one of Slovo's co-founders, began hosting a book club. As she read more and prepared for discussions, she realized how much she wanted to hold onto the thoughts, emotions, and little moments that books left behind.

“ Whenever I was getting ready for a book club meeting, I'd end up with so many things I wanted to talk about — favorite quotes, different thoughts, questions, emotional moments that stayed with me long after reading.

I used to keep my notes in random places: in my notes app, on sticky notes inside books, on separate cards with discussion questions. It became so chaotic that I was constantly forgetting something at home — the book, the notes, or the cards. ”
— Anastasia, Slovo co-founder

After searching for an app that could help organize all of it, it became clear that many reading apps are built around tracking and social features, but none of them felt right. That's how the idea of creating something different was born.

But an idea needs the right team to come to life. Ivan and Alex believed in the vision and turned it into a real app. Ivan brings years of experience building world-class digital products, while Alex brings a strong design focus and understanding of how to create something that feels intuitive, user friendly, and enjoyable to use. Ivan and Alex have more than a decade of experience designing and shipping digital products used by millions of people around the world, with some of their work recognized by international design awards and featured by Apple.

Together, they created Slovo — a digital book journal designed to help readers capture what they think and feel while they read, not just track what they finish.

In Ukrainian, Slovo means "word" — and that felt like the perfect name for an app where words matter most. Slovo is a private reading journal for people who want to do more than simply finish books. It's for readers who want to fully experience stories, enjoy the process of reading, and return to those emotions later.

“ We created Slovo to feel like a cozy place for readers. No pressure from social media. No comparisons. No need to share personal thoughts with the world. We simply believe that meaningful ideas, emotions, and moments from books deserve to stay with us a little longer. ”
